1) Filmmaking
I mean, does this really merit an explanation? Been my passion for over a decade. I just keep praying I can make a living while doing it, but either way imma be making movies.
2) Longboarding
What started out as a utilitarian mode of transportation for a little college freshman Tanner quickly turned into a beloved hobby, even if it has caused me a plethora of assorted bodily injuries over the years
3) LaCroix
I know, I know, pretentious hipster coming through. It's fine, I've accepted it.
Seriously, though, just TRY a Cerise Limon LaCroix with an open mind and tell me that's not a refreshing beverage. I rest my case.
4) Japan
I may only be a quarter Japanese, but I am excessively proud of that quarter. Anything Japanese I'm about, although I've never actually been to Japan (Yeah, one of those people.) Hopefully soon I can travel to the motherland...
5) Drone Flying
Ever since I heard drones were a thing I've wanted to see the world from that unique perspective, and eight months ago I finally invested in a small Mavic Air drone. Never regretted it.
6) Vinyl Records
Oh no, is Tanner one of those snobs that say vinyl sounds better than mp3's? Yes, yes I am. But it's not just that. Listening to Spotify is great for the road or on the move, but there's something magical about sitting down and making an event to listen to an album, while enjoying the album art and watching the little needle skate across the freshly pressed vinyl...mmm...anyway, if you want to bribe me with something, records are always a safe bet.
7) 35mm photography
Because what a better way to complete my journey to full hipster? On this one, however, I can't take credit. I blame Katie Hill and her undying testimony of film and silver halide that convinced me to purchase my first 35mm Minolta camera, and subsequently spend my last year of savings on processing the film. I don't shoot as much anymore. College budget, folks.
8) Driving
Call me crazy, but nothing like a solo drive across the countryside or up a mountain. Even to Walmart for that matter. Even after spending a whole summer in LA, I still enjoy driving, so I guess I have to add it to this list. Yes, if you were wondering. Windows down, volume up. mp3's. Still trying to come up with a way to play records in the car...
9) Space
I'm a super nerd when it comes to space. Every SpaceX launch, every attempted moon landing by any nation, I'm watching it live when I can. I'm legit wanting to be the first human being to make a film entirely shot on the moon. Not just Stanley Kubrick on that sound stage in the 60's...oh wait what?
10) The Gospel?
Can I put this? It's a church school, so it seems legal. I served a mission speaking Spanish in Idaho Falls. Greatest blessing in my life thus far. I'm trying to put God first in everything; thankfully he still loves me when I screw up, because I do that a lot.
Tanner, I appreciate the hipster in you. It just means that you love yourself for who you are. I have a good friend who is also a space nerd, so talking space is something that I can do all day!
I dig the hipster filmmaker vibes and I also very much dig the shots.
Tanner I can't help but wonder where your affinity for La Croix originated. Was it perhaps on a film set that the beverage first graced your lips and has since not left your mind? That seems to be where I find it most plentifully.
I had no idea you were a quarter Japanese! That's splendid, simply splendid! I also really love you fixation with space, I really felt the suspense when India... almost... made it...
Hey Tanner, you have such an amazing range of taste and life experience. You're such a split between being an old soul (records? 35mm film?) and being a super modern hipster. It's pretty great! Also, the url for this post...haha...
